THE GIFT GIVEN: Today we welcome back to Holy Trinity, Pastor Michael Meier, a Stewardship Key Leader of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Invited by our congregation to help with “Our 20/20 Vision for 2022”, we are pleased to have him share his gifts and leadership with us again today, and we thank him for his service and ministry in our midst.
This is Commitment Weekend. Today during worship, all of our members and friends will have an opportunity to make their pledges to “Our 20/20 Vision for 2022”. Our ushers will distribute pledge cards to everyone at the end of the service. You will be invited to complete your card and then bring it to the altar.
THANK YOU to all of our Capital Campaign team leaders: Linda Magill and Henry Schwier, Capital Campaign General Co-chairs; Pastor Beth Orling and Catherine Schwier-Mencer, Children and Youth Co-Chairs; Ron Cobb and Evelyn Shibla, Communications Co-chairs; Cynthia Mussinan and Meta Querns, Follow-up Co-chairs; Lucille Adelmann, Spiritual Emphasis Chair. We also are grateful to those who gave heartfelt and inspiring temple talks: Richard Adelmann, Susan Ardito, Lolly Forsberg, Buzz Goode, JJ Keelan, Linda Magill and Henry Schwier. Many others contributed to coffee hours and wine and cheese get-togethers; youth and adults helped to prepare the mailings; we also had a telephone team. Thanks to Sheila Wall, our Financial Secretary, who has graciously donated many additional hours to help with the Capital Campaign. In the office, Jessica has spent hours supporting “Our 20/20 Vision for 2022″. ”God bless you, every one!”

LIBRARY WISH LIST Warmest thanks to everyone who responded to our request for the Harry Potter books. We now have a complete set in our new library site as well as upstairs in the 5th-6th grade collection. The next title on our wish list is Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. This Newberry Medal winner is the first title in a trilogy which includes Shiloh Season and Saving Shiloh. (If someone finds our library’s copy of Shiloh buried at home, we’ll gladly receive it back!) Shiloh tells the story of 11-year-old Marty who finds a mistreated beagle pup and is torn between returning it to its owner, knowing it will be further abused, or taking care of it in secret. There is a strong emphasis on family and religious values as the boy struggles with this moral dilemma.
We would like to replace the missing title and also add the trilogy to the 5th-6th grade collection. If anyone has copies of these titles in good condition and is willing to donate them to the library, please leave the book(s) in the library with a note with your name and telephone number. Gratefully yours, Ellin Greene, librarian.
ARE YOU CRAFTY? As some of you may know, we have been making baptismal banners for quite some time now! It is a special gift from our church that the families cherish. We are currently in need of someone willing to make them for the children. We have most of the materials that would be needed. If you are interested, please stop in the church office or call Jessica @ 732-223-0533. (Many thanks to Christine Hartnett who has made the banners for the past several years©.)

PRAYER VIGIL Sat. Feb. 25, 9am-5pm. In addition to the upcoming Ten Days of Prayer, the Prayer Vigil is another important opportunity for members of our congregation to lift their hopes and dreams for ”20/20 Vision for 2022″ up to God in prayer. People are invited to come to Fellowship Hall throughout the day for a 30 minute time slot of their choosing. Please sign up ahead of time so we can be sure that there will always be someone praying throughout the vigil period. We will have a LABYRINTH set up in Fellowship Hall to enhance your personal prayer. We do have plans for seating at the edge of the labyrinth for people who prefer to sit and pray rather than walk. Prayer in the sanctuary is also possible. More info about LABYRINTHS is displayed near the sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall.
FOOD PANTRY A word from Jane Carbone, our Social Ministry “A can can help” coordinator. The cans are truly helping! The outpouring of donations in December had the Manasquan Ministerium Food Pantry shelves overflowing. In cold weather we are sometimes tempted to “hibernate,” but if we continue to share, the icy doldrums of winter will be much less harsh for those who are hungry.
Robert Hazel is the new Deacon Coordinator for the pantry. The latest information from him is as follows.
During the month of November 2010, the pantry had the privilege of serving 201 families and a total of 781 individuals with all the fixings for a complete Thanksgiving dinner. During December 2010 the pantry served 235 families and a total of 899 individuals with all the components of a Christmas dinner, as well as gifts for the children represented in each family. These numbers for the 2 months represented a 39% increase over the same period in 2009.
Present pantry needs are Jelly, Pancake Mix and Pancake Syrup.
LIBRARY WISH LIST We would like to have a complete set of the Harry Potter books in both our new library site and in the collection for the fifth and sixth graders upstairs. Does anyone have a hard cover copy of volumes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 in good condition that they would be willing to donate to the library? If so, please leave the book(s) in the library with a note with your name and telephone number. Gratefully yours, Ellin Greene, librarian.

To Everyone at HTLC,
With the anticipated snow arriving late this evening, Pastor Mary has decided to cancel the 7 a.m. Holy Communion Service, along with the 10 a.m. Weekday Spirituality gathering. The 7:30 p.m. Weekday Spirituality is still meeting as of now. We will wait and see what the second “big storm” of the year bring us all!
Be careful and stay warm,
Jessica Kiel
