Joy of the Redeemed

And a highway will be there;
  it will be called the Way of Holiness.
The Unclean will not journey on it;
  it will be for those who walk in that Way;
  wicked fools will not go about on it.

-- Isaiah 35:8

Isaiah, a messianic prophet who talks about the coming of Christ and the glorious reign of His Church and Kingdom in chapter thirty-five, seems to show us in verse eight a vision of the redeemed, traveling home to God. Yet, as one reads further into verses nine and ten, one senses that these "travelers" may have already reached their destination: "Zion" or heaven or the "new" Jerusalem, for that matter. In any event, "gladness and joy" will be their companions, not sorrows or evils of any kind. What a wonderful place to be!

In the book, "The Purpose Driven Life," the author, Rick Warren, tells the reader that "...in Christ we find out who we are and what we are living for." As Christians, we have been redeemed by Christ's blood; therefore, this world is the place in which we learn to trust in Jesus and to live our lives so that we may show the love of Christ to our fellow travelers. We are here only temporarily, just "passing through," as it were. Our "real" home is awaiting us in Heaven, where we will be forever with our Lord and Savior, safe from all ills, filled with joy and singing eternal praises to the Lamb of God for paying the ultimate ransom of the cross for our sins so that we may live with Him forever. He loved us that much and continues to love us still.

In the Gospel of John, chapter eleven, verse twenty-five, Jesus, Himself, gives us the formula for eternal life. He says,"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

What a hope we have! What love He has for us! What a mighty God we serve! All we have to do is to believe that He is the Son of God. What Grace! Let us be careful to thank Him for His goodness and mercy toward us this Easter season; for He has freely given us His life's blood. How can we neglect such a gift, such a Savior?

Father, thank you, thank you, thank you!
   We LOVE you, Lord.
      Amen
